What a way to finish Venice! Following its world premiere in the Venezia 83 Competition, DAU director Ilya Khrzhanovsky has been awarded the Silver Lion for Best Director at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival.

Alongside its recognition from the Venice jury, DAU was met with strong critical acclaim following its premiere. Time Out described the film as a “dazzlingly original” epic, while Screen Daily praised its ambition as “the kind of lawless auteur craziness rarely seen in today’s narrative cinema.” Writing for The Guardian, Peter Bradshaw awarded the film five stars, capturing its singular impact as “mad, daunting, haunting.”
